American study reveals expanding use of artificial intelligence among doctors
A recent American study has revealed a significant expansion in the use of artificial intelligence tools among doctors and healthcare workers, with the platform "OpenEvidence" recording approximately 271 million medical queries submitted by over 952,000 users over two and a half years. The results showed that doctors use these technologies for selecting treatments and managing medical conditions more than for diagnosing diseases.
A recent American study has revealed a significant expansion in the use of artificial intelligence tools among doctors and healthcare workers. The platform "OpenEvidence" recorded approximately 271 million medical queries submitted by over 952,000 users over two and a half years. The results showed that the number of monthly active users rose from 355 users at the beginning of the period to 703,265 users at its end, while the average monthly queries per user increased from 18 to 39.5. Among the 952,008 users included in the study, there were 556,200 doctors, who alone submitted 172.1 million queries. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants recorded a higher usage rate than doctors, with an average of 44.5 monthly queries per active user, compared to 37.1 for doctors. The platform relies on advanced language models to answer medical questions, attaching references from published scientific research and guidelines from specialized medical bodies. The study was published in the journal "JAMA" on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
