Ahead of a renewal of the war? Former IDF Intelligence chief: "Tending toward an agreement"
Reserve Major General Tamir Hayman, former head of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, estimated in an interview that the pendulum is leaning toward an agreement with Iran, but warned against a joint attack without an agreed-upon goal between Netanyahu and Trump.
Reserve Major General Tamir Hayman, head of the Institute for National Security Studies and former head of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, estimated in an interview with "The Main Edition" that the pendulum is leaning more toward an agreement with Iran than toward an attack, but emphasized that this is a temporary trend. According to him, the intensive mediation efforts, some Iranian flexibility on gradual confidence-building measures, and statements by President Trump support this conclusion. However, Hayman clarified that the Iranians are not willing to compromise on core issues such as the removal of enriched uranium from Iran, and if these remain central to the agreement, the path will likely lead to an attack. Hayman warned against launching a joint Israeli-American attack without a shared goal, since in his view Netanyahu wants to topple the regime while Trump wants to increase pressure for an agreement. He called for defining a common objective and an exit strategy before any military action, to prevent Iran from claiming victory.
