After the drama at the polls: former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit returns to the witness stand in the Netanyahu trial. Five hearings have been scheduled this week at the Jerusalem District Court. On Wednesday, the judges ruled, by a majority of two to one, to keep Mandelblit's testimony and cross-examination within the scope of his approvals only, and not to expand them to additional topics. In his previous testimony, Mandelblit confirmed that he gave approvals to investigate Netanyahu under caution and to open an inquiry and investigation in Case 1000 (the gifts case), Case 2000 (the Moses-Netanyahu talks case), and Case 4000 (the Bezeq-Walla case). The defense will be able to present investigative failures and arguments supporting its line of defense, according to which the 'defense of due process' principle should be applied, through other witnesses and additional evidence later in the trial.
