Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was arrested in Florida and charged with possession of materials involving child sexual abuse. The 82-year-old Markle appeared in a U.S. court after the FBI raided two storage units he had rented for nearly 20 years in the Los Angeles area. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI agents seized approximately 78 items, including photographic film, slides, and books containing pedophilic material. Witnesses identified Markle in two of the images, with his age estimated between 30 and 40, suggesting the alleged abuse occurred decades ago. The court hearing lasted about 30 minutes, and Markle was brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair. The court ordered house arrest at the assisted living facility where he resides in Florida, with electronic monitoring. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that authorities 'acted quickly.' Meghan Markle, who has been estranged from her father since 2018, said in October that she was very disturbed by the news. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet responded to the arrest.
