Adnan al-Bursh's wife demands the return of Palestinian bodies held by the occupation

Yasmin al-Bursh, wife of Dr. Adnan al-Bursh, called on the international community to pressure Israel to hand over the bodies of Palestinians it holds. She spoke before the UN Human Rights Council on behalf of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor. She stressed that holding the bodies constitutes a double crime against families, and that Israel holds over 1,700 bodies.

Yasmin al-Bursh, wife of Palestinian doctor Adnan al-Bursh who was killed under torture in Israeli occupation prisons, called on the international community to pressure the occupation authorities to hand over the bodies of Palestinians they hold, allowing their families to bid farewell and bury them with dignity. She delivered this speech before the UN Human Rights Council during its 63rd session, on behalf of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor. She emphasized that the international community's abandonment of Palestinians and allowing Israel to commit war crimes without accountability gives it a green light to commit another crime by holding the bodies. She noted that her husband's body has been held for over two and a half years, and that Israel holds over 1,700 bodies of Palestinians, including those killed by army fire or who died under torture. She considered that the occupation commits a "double crime" against families by using bodies as a tool for punishment, humiliation, and bargaining. Adnan al-Bursh, head of the orthopedic surgery department at Al-Shifa Hospital, was arrested from Al-Awda Hospital in December 2023 and was announced killed in Ofer Prison in April 2024.
