About a month after a reserve soldier was arrested by Palestinian police at the Beitunia bypass (Area C) and taken to Ramallah, dozens of Israelis arrived this morning (Tuesday) at Beitunia Square in Binyamin and held a holiday prayer there, as part of a struggle to open the "Maozim Axis" leading from the Talmonim bloc to Jerusalem. The event organizers stated that the event, secured by IDF forces, is "a response to the abduction incident and a wake-up call to the army and the government to return to full governance in all sectors." Earlier this month, IDF forces arrested the three Palestinian policemen involved in setting up a roadblock in Area C near Beitunia, in delaying and attacking the Israeli citizen, exceeding their authority. The security establishment defined the incident as "a serious violation by the mechanisms." The incident occurred when Shlomo Rosenthal, a member of an emergency response team, was driving from his home to Jerusalem via the Beitunia bypass. According to him, Palestinian policemen blocked his way, opened the car door, sprayed pepper spray, kicked him in the face, stole his weapon, handcuffed him, and led him to a police facility in Ramallah. Later, in coordination with the District Coordination Office, he was transferred to IDF forces and his weapon was returned.
