A fragmentation grenade at a home and a car set on fire: who is threatening Elad municipality's senior officials?
A fragmentation grenade was thrown at the home of Elad municipality director-general Amnon Maksimov, and the car of Shimon Suissa, head of the mayor's bureau, was set on fire this evening. No one was hurt in the incidents. Municipality sources fear the background is the city's handling of land takeovers and commercial centres. Police are investigating.
Two unusual incidents occurred in Elad this evening (Wednesday): a fragmentation grenade was thrown at the home of the municipality's director-general, Amnon Maksimov, and later the car of Shimon Suissa, head of the mayor's bureau, was set on fire. No one was hurt in the incidents. Municipality sources told Walla that the concern is that the background is the city's recent actions to regularise the situation in lands and commercial centres where, they say, there had been takeovers. Those same sources fear that those harmed by the moves are now trying to strike at senior officials. In footage held by the police, a man is seen pouring gasoline on the car and fleeing. The link between the incidents is being examined. The Elad municipality said it would not be deterred by threats and would continue to act resolutely for the city's residents, in cooperation with the police.
