5-year-old boy caught in immigration agent's shooting; Mamdani furious: 'Get them off the streets'

An ICE agent fired at a vehicle in the Bronx during an arrest, wounding a man sitting with a 5-year-old child. Mayor Mamdani demands Trump halt ICE operations in the city; Governor Hochul demands answers. ICE claims the suspect is a gang-affiliated criminal released due to sanctuary policies.

An agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fired a shot yesterday (Thursday) during an arrest operation in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, wounding a man sitting in a vehicle that also contained a 5-year-old child. The child was not physically harmed. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced he would demand President Donald Trump cease all ICE enforcement actions in the city, calling for ICE to be removed from the streets. New York Governor Kathy Hochul demanded answers from federal authorities and expressed serious concern. ICE, meanwhile, released its own account: the shooting occurred during a targeted operation to arrest a Dominican Republic national residing illegally, with a prior theft conviction, previous arrests for assault, robbery, drugs, and weapons, and ties to the Trinitarios gang. According to ICE, the suspect was released by local authorities due to sanctuary policies. The FBI and HSI are investigating the incident.
