40 years since Ron Arad's capture: "We failed to bring him back, the missed opportunity still hurts"
40 years after the fall of navigator Ron Arad into captivity, his wife Tami published personal reflections on the struggle to bring him back, criticized the treatment of the families of the October 7 hostages, and made clear that soldiers should not be risked to retrieve him. She praised Rabin for his responsibility and thanked Trump for his involvement.
40 years after navigator Ron Arad fell into captivity on October 16, 1986, his wife Tami Arad published poignant personal reflections. She spoke of the diary she has kept since his capture, hoping he would one day read it, and described the physical longing and pain. Tami harshly criticized the treatment of the families of the October 7 hostages, writing that she never imagined Israelis would threaten and curse them, and that an incitement mechanism portrayed the demand for their return as an attack on the prime minister. She praised former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin for taking personal responsibility and listening to the family. Alongside this, Tami clarified that the family does not wish to risk soldiers' lives to bring Ron back, even after 40 years: "Life is more important than any closure." She thanked US President Donald Trump for his involvement in the hostage deal, and everyone who worked to bring her husband back. In March, the IDF operated in eastern Lebanon to locate his remains without success, and Tami reiterated her position that no additional soldiers should be endangered.
