Karl Bushby, a 57-year-old British resident, is returning to his home in England after a 28-year walk around the world. The journey began in November 1998, when Bushby set out from the southern tip of South America with the goal of reaching Hull, England, without using any form of transportation. During the 58,000 kilometers he covered across 29 countries, he faced numerous dangers: armed men in the Darien Gap, a polar bear in Alaska, broken ice in the Bering Strait, and a swim of nearly 300 kilometers in the Caspian Sea. Bushby, who disguised himself as a homeless person to cross dangerous areas, says the world is less frightening than it seems. He is expected to arrive in Hull on November 1, exactly 28 years after he set out. Despite the achievement, he admits that normal life scares him more than the journey.
