The Jerusalem State Employees Disciplinary Court sentenced a middle school physics teacher in central Israel to immediate dismissal, disqualification from state service and the Ministry of Education for five years, and a severe reprimand, after he was convicted on his own admission of unbecoming conduct. The court adopted a plea deal, under which compensation of 5,000 shekels was deposited for each of the two complainants. The statement of claim describes a pattern of unusual classroom discourse, including presenting a table on the frequency of sexual relations among homosexuals and lesbians, remarks about the "nature" of men, and graphic descriptions of sexual stories. The main incident occurred on May 27, 2024, when he told female students that their exposed clothing "turns him on," and that according to "natural laws," men are supposed to grab women and rape them. He also said that the perception of pedophilia has "expanded," and that if he is attracted to a student, it is not pedophilia. The court ruled that the discourse "slipped into overly intimate discourse" and turned the classroom space into "embarrassing, unsettling, and harmful." Alongside this, letters of thanks and recommendations were presented, and the teacher expressed remorse. The students' mothers agreed to the deal to prevent their daughters from testifying.
