Young man severely attacked at car wash: 'A trivial argument almost ended in murder'

A 25-year-old man was violently attacked at a car wash in Kfar HaAmakim by three young men, apparently due to a previous dispute between his brother and the attackers over right of way on the road. The victim was hospitalized for five days and underwent surgeries to save his hand. Police arrested three suspects, and one confessed to the stabbing. Indictments were filed by the Northern District Attorney's Office.

According to the investigation summary by Chief Inspector Mohasen Dagesh, head of the youth team in the Emekim district police, the incident occurred on July 15. The victim, who was at Poria Hospital, told investigators that while washing his car, three young men from the village approached and asked if he was the brother of a certain person. When he answered yes, they attacked him together, armed with clubs and a knife, beating him brutally. He was left severely wounded, bleeding, in life-threatening condition. He was taken to the hospital, hospitalized for five days, and underwent several surgeries to save his hand, including repairs to all torn tendons and a deep 10 cm cut on his forearm. In his testimony, he identified the attackers as his neighbors. The three were arrested, initially denied the attack, but one confessed to the stabbing and the others to the assault. The background to the attack became clear after the victim was released and testified at the station: the day before, there was an argument between his brother and the suspects over right of way on a narrow road in the village. They couldn't reach his brother, so they marked him as a target for revenge. Dagesh was quoted as saying: "It's shocking that a trivial argument almost ended in the murder of an innocent citizen." Attorney Wisam Lidaoui, representing two of the defendants, responded that they are normative young men with no criminal record, who were caught up in an event that was not premeditated, and that they did not attack or harm anyone, and will demand their unconditional release.
