The Southern District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Mark Ben Avraham Nabler, a 72-year-old resident of Ashdod, in a case of fraud against elderly Russian-speaking Israelis. According to the investigation, he acted with accomplices who called victims, posing as representatives of government agencies, including Bituach Leumi, insurance companies, and other services. In one episode, the fraudsters brought in a person who pretended to be the woman's son, after which Nabler took about 26,000 shekels and $2,000 from her. Another woman handed over 6,000 shekels and $6,000 after a call from a supposed insurance agent named 'Maya'. A third victim gave jewelry worth about 100,000 shekels. Another approximately 80,000 shekels were not obtained: relatives of an elderly man suspected fraud and called the police. Nabler is charged with obtaining property by fraud under aggravating circumstances and attempted commission of a similar crime. The prosecution requests that he remain in custody until the end of the proceedings.
