Yair Golan: 'If I get 15 seats, I'll be defense minister'

Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan said at the ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth National Security Conference that if his party wins 15 seats, he expects to serve as defense minister. Golan also marked other portfolios: Justice, Education, Communications, and Public Security. He assessed that Gadi Eisenkot is the natural candidate for prime minister and presented a vision for separation from the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria.

Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan said today (Monday) at the ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth National Security Conference that if his party wins 15 seats in the elections, he expects to serve as defense minister in the next government. Alongside this, Golan marked a series of additional portfolios: Justice, Education, Communications, and the Ministry of Public Security. According to him, the Democrats have identified 'a group of ministries that take care of internal security and Israel's resilience as a democracy.' Golan assessed that in the current political situation, Gadi Eisenkot is the leading candidate of the anti-Netanyahu bloc for prime minister. He presented his vision for Judea and Samaria, saying that Israel must choose between annexing millions of Palestinians or separating from them, drawing a comparison to Ariel Sharon. Golan claimed he could also convince Eisenkot, Bennett, and Lieberman to support separation steps. He sharply criticized Shin Bet chief David Zini, claiming he failed in handling the Qatari affair and Jewish terrorism.
