According to them, the charges constitute a heavy financial burden, especially amid the ongoing crisis in the tourism industry since October 7, 2023. The fee is levied on businesses that exceed a basic waste quota, such as restaurants, event halls, and supermarkets. In response, the municipality announced a freeze on enforcement measures and an individual review of the claims, with the final decision expected to be published in about two weeks. Mayor Yossi Naba'a instructed the property tax department not to enforce until then. The business owners are not satisfied with the postponement and are waiting to see if the review will lead to the cancellation of the decree or a change in rates.
