The Director General of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, Avi Cohen Skali, recommended that the Population and Immigration Authority prevent the entry of American activist Kashama Sawant into Israel. The recommendation was made following Amendment No. 40 to the Entry into Israel Law and in accordance with an agreement between the ministries. The ministry learned that Sawant plans to arrive in Israel in the coming weeks, among other things to visit the areas of Judea and Samaria with the assistance of the IFRD organization, as part of a preliminary campaign for the olive harvest of the Faz3a organization. Sawant, who served as a member of the Seattle City Council for a decade, works to promote an arms embargo on Israel and an end to US military aid, and has called Israel a perpetrator of "genocide." In a tweet from her X account, she announced her intention to speak with Palestinians about "the Holocaust being carried out by the Israeli state." Diaspora Minister Amichai Shikli stated that Israel will not open its gates to those who work to promote boycotts and embargoes, and instructed the professional bodies to examine the case.
