The Utah prosecution yesterday (Tuesday) filed the first of three legal documents demanding the indictment of Tyler Robinson, accused of murdering conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University in September 2025. The document, submitted to Judge Tony Graf, is based on a broad evidentiary foundation presented in a five-day preliminary hearing. The evidence includes written confessions by Robinson, in which he stated he planned the assassination for just over a week and seized an opportunity to eliminate Kirk. DNA findings matched on the weapon, backpack, towel, and screwdriver at the scene. Security footage documents his movements on campus before and after the shooting, and his presence on a roof overlooking Kirk's "American Comeback Tour" event in front of an audience of about 3,000 spectators is corroborated by eyewitness accounts. Robinson has not yet filed a formal response to the charges, which include aggravated murder and six additional counts. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty.
