Why Putin may postpone negotiations until spring – expert opinion

The expert noted that the diplomatic process is at an early stage, and its development could be influenced by upcoming international events: Donald Trump's contacts with the Chinese leadership, the situation around Iran, as well as political processes in the US and Russia. Taran believes that if Russian troops fail to achieve their set objectives, Moscow may move to a more serious discussion of a possible end to the war in the spring. A separate factor could be China's policy: if relations between Washington and Beijing improve, China could become more actively involved in the settlement, increasing pressure on Moscow.
