Who reservists vote for: survey results

A survey commissioned by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth shows that 70% of IDF reservists base their voting decisions on parties' stances on conscription and security. The Yashar party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, receives the most support (19%), followed by Likud (13%) and Be-Yahad (10%). 63% of reservists support universal conscription for Haredim.

A survey conducted by the Dialog Institute on behalf of Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, published on August 21, revealed the preferences of IDF reservists in the upcoming elections. 70% of respondents said their choice would be determined by parties' positions on conscription and security issues. According to the survey, the Yashar party, led by Gadi Eisenkot, receives the most support among reservists at 19%. Likud garners about 13%, Be-Yahad led by Naftali Bennett about 10%, and Yisrael Beiteinu led by Avigdor Lieberman about 8%. Following are Otzma Yehudit (7%), HaBayit HaYehudi (5%), Religious Zionism (5%), and the Democrats (4%). About 16% remain undecided. When converted to Knesset seats based solely on reservist votes, Yashar gets 33 seats, Likud 22, and Be-Yahad 17. 63% of reservists support universal conscription for Haredim, and 42% support universal conscription for Arabs. Only 34% of reservists who voted for Likud in 2022 intend to vote for it again. Concurrently with the survey, Ynet journalists conducted a focus group with ten reservists, who generally agreed that military service should be mandatory for all sectors of society.
