Where the rocket exploded: the memorial for the 12 children killed in Majdal Shams

Two years after the Majdal Shams disaster, a memorial was dedicated to the 12 children killed by a Hezbollah rocket strike on a soccer field. Designed by architect Zvika Pasternak, the memorial preserves the impact crater and incorporates the stone wall that collapsed and saved other children. The fathers and mothers share their pain and memories. The memorial includes a rusted metal bowl reconstructing the impact crater and 12 concrete tiles with the children's names. Father Ibrahim Ibrahim, who lost his son Jiwara, insisted on preserving the wall. Pasternak, who designed installations in the Gaza envelope, said the crater reflects the hole in the parents' hearts.
