Salam called on Israel to stop the destruction of facilities and populated areas in southern Lebanon, as well as to expand the territories for pilot projects involving the Lebanese army. The Lebanese side also demanded that specific timelines be set for the full withdrawal of IDF units from the southern regions of the country. The meeting was attended by US Ambassador to Beirut Michelle Issa and American military officials. Earlier, it was reported that the Trump administration reacted negatively to statements by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz about IDF plans to continue its presence in southern Lebanon, considering this incompatible with assurances of no territorial claims.
