WhatsApp has started introducing a series of new features for voice and video calls, enabling users to make and receive calls directly through a browser using WhatsApp Web, without needing to install a separate desktop application. The new feature supports both personal and group calls with up to 32 participants. Users have access to screen sharing, in-call messaging, message history, and favorite chats. All calls are protected by end-to-end encryption. It is also now possible to transfer an active call between different devices without interruption, for example, starting on a smartphone and continuing on a computer. For group video conferences, a "waiting room" has been added, allowing the organizer to approve participant connections. Call quality has been improved: HD video from the start of the call and an intelligent background noise suppression system. Meta reported that the update is being rolled out gradually among users of all supported platforms and should become available in the coming days.
