West Bank annexation supported by nearly 40% of Israeli Jews, JPPI poll finds

A new poll by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) reveals that 38% of Israeli Jews support annexing the West Bank, while 55% want Israel to maintain authority over Jewish settlements in any future agreement with the Palestinians. The survey, which presented four options, found that 37% of all Israelis support full annexation, 30% favor dividing the territory, and 10% support full transfer of sovereignty to the Palestinians. Among Jewish Israelis, 35% prefer division, and 22% of annexation supporters advocate transferring the Palestinian population to Arab countries. Notably, less than 1% of Jewish Israelis support granting full citizenship to Palestinians upon annexation. In contrast, 19% of Arab Israelis support annexation if citizenship is granted, while 23% favor a Palestinian state over the entire territory. The poll also examined the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP) plan, finding that 58% of Israelis believe the situation in Gaza will not change, with 63% of Jewish Israelis pessimistic. Only 3% believe the plan will achieve all its goals, including Hamas's disarmament. JPPI President Professor Yedidya Stern described the findings as indicating 'deep pessimism among Israelis' regarding Gaza, attributing it to a lack of trust in Hamas's willingness to relinquish control.
