Weapons, grenades and hundreds of bullets: Stolen military ammunition found following shooting at Karmit

In an operation by the Southern District police and Border Police overnight, two M-16 rifles, dozens of magazines, 19 explosive grenades and hundreds of stolen IDF ammunition rounds were seized. The operation came following the shooting at the community of Karmit from the Lakiya area. Five suspects were arrested, including three on suspicion of involvement in the shooting and brawl in Lakiya.

In an operational activity by the Southern District of the Israel Police and the Border Police, conducted overnight (Sunday), a large quantity of stolen military ammunition was seized. The forces located two M-16 rifles, dozens of magazines, 19 explosive grenades and hundreds of stolen IDF ammunition rounds. The operation came following the shooting on Saturday evening that was directed at the community of Karmit from the Lakiya area. During the activities, five suspects were arrested and transferred for questioning at the Ayarot station. Three of them were arrested on suspicion of involvement in a shooting and brawl in Lakiya that frightened the residents of Karmit. During the operation, the forces noticed a suspect who fired and fled on foot toward a wadi, and after a foot chase with lighting aids, they located him hiding in the bushes. Two additional suspects in their 30s were also arrested.
