A cache of weapons was found today (Sunday) in the Binyamin area by a team from the inter-organizational headquarters in the Judea and Samaria District. A suspect at the scene physically attacked police bomb disposal experts, injuring them, after they were called to handle the seized weapons. Upon the suspect's arrest by police forces, dozens of people arrived at the scene to disrupt police activity and prevent the suspect's arrest. About a month ago, a large quantity of weapons was seized in a deserter's home in Jerusalem. The suspect, in his 20s and a Jerusalem resident, was arrested upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport and taken for questioning, after which the police intend to bring him before the court to request an extension of his detention. Initially, the suspect was arrested because he was identified as a deserter, but the Israel Police and Military Police were astonished to discover a wide arsenal hidden in several rooms of his parents' home. During the search, the suspect was not present at his home, and his father was arrested. During the searches, a smoke grenade was found, raising suspicion of additional weapons, and Border Police dog handlers and Jerusalem District bomb disposal experts were called to the scene. During the search, police revealed many weapons hidden in various rooms of the house, including the playroom, parents' bedroom, and children's rooms. Among the many items found were 36 grenades of various types, including 18 fragmentation grenades, explosive devices, a Kalashnikov rifle, a shotgun, materials for making and assembling explosives, various sights, and large amounts of ammunition, including magazines.
