The family of Eldar Dayan, who was murdered in Petah Tikva, is furious at the police and the media. In an interview with Maariv, they say that a police investigator who accompanied the investigation told them there was a 98% chance he was alive, and that they were close to finding him. “Even before they reached him, they turned him into a criminal,” claims his aunt. They threaten: “We’ll make sure she pays for this. We have recordings of her.” The family says his body was found damaged, with two missing teeth, and that he had been in the field for a long time. They feel the police made him out to be a criminal, when he was far from it. The police stated: “The Israel Police shares in the deep sorrow of the Dayan family. The police will continue to act with determination and professionalism to get to the truth and bring all those involved to justice.” It was also reported that the police conducted searches in the area and found a pit without DNA samples.
