Wave of threats – Liberman and his family targeted by online harassment

Avigdor Liberman and his family have again faced a wave of threats on social media, including calls for murder and curses. The Yisrael Beiteinu party reported dozens of such messages, with some authors posing as Likud supporters. Earlier, singer Mordechai Ben-David made harsh remarks in a podcast. Materials have been handed to the police.

The chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Avigdor Liberman, and his family have once again become targets of aggressive attacks and incitement on social media. Over the past month, this is the second wave of open harassment, in which the politician and his loved ones are wished death, subjected to harsh curses, and calls for violence. In comments, internet users directly stated that the MK and his children should suffer a painful death, and wished him and his wife to 'burn in hell'. Other messages compared the politician to Hitler and called him a cursed person. In Yisrael Beiteinu, it was emphasized that dozens of such messages have accumulated recently. Representatives of the faction noted that some authors pose as Likud supporters, but there is no confirmation of this. The party assured: 'The Yisrael Beiteinu party will not shy away from threats and will not allow violence and incitement to silence it.' The situation has escalated not only on social media. Earlier, Hasidic singer Mordechai Ben-David, in a Yiddish podcast, made a harsh statement, saying that the mohel who performed Liberman's circumcision allegedly made a mistake and should have cut off the politician's head in infancy. The party called these words direct incitement to murder and a moral disgrace. All documented materials and screenshots have been handed to the police and the Knesset officer. Law enforcement will need to check whether these actions constitute a criminal offense. As of now, no arrests or opening of cases regarding the new wave of comments have been reported.
