"Warning signal": how many Israelis doubt the country's future

A poll by Lazar Research and Panel4All shows that 79% of Israelis are proud of their country, 62% consider its existence certain, but 27% fear a threat. Among the Arab population, pride dropped from 52% to 44%, and the share of those doubting the state's future reached 30%. Dr. Menachem Lazar called the results a "warning signal."

A poll conducted by the Lazar Research institute in cooperation with Panel4All on September 9–10, 2026, among 601 respondents, revealed troubling trends in Israeli sentiment. The vast majority (79%) are proud of their affiliation with Israel, 62% consider the state's existence certain, and 62% see it as a comfortable country to live in. However, 27% of respondents fear that Israel is under a real threat. The most notable decline in optimism was recorded among Arab citizens: the share of those proud of their status fell from 52% to 44%, while the share of those not feeling pride rose from 31% to 40%. The proportion of Arabs who consider Israel a good place to live dropped from 46% to 33%. Meanwhile, 30% of Arab respondents could not decide on an answer regarding the country's future. The study's director, Dr. Menachem Lazar, called these data a "warning signal," pointing to negative sentiments among 22% of the country's citizens. The poll's margin of error is 4%.
