Voting Completed: Religious Zionism Elects Its Knesset List

The Religious Zionism party, led by Bezalel Smotrich, completed its internal elections this evening (Sunday) for its list for the 26th Knesset. 170 out of 173 central committee members voted on the ten candidates who will make up the list. The voting took place at two locations: in the morning at the party headquarters in Shoham and in the afternoon at the Ramada Hotel in Jerusalem, with remote voting options for reservists. The candidates included incumbent MKs Michal Waldiger, Ohad Tal, Zvi Sukkot, and Simcha Rothman, alongside Minister Orit Strock, as well as new candidates: Zvika Vishnegrad, Omer Rahamim, Tam Eitan, Nathan Zaubman, and Rabbi Shmuel Sasson. The elections were held against the backdrop of an internal crisis: Minister Ofir Sofer and MK Moshe Solomon announced their departure before the vote, due to disagreements over the issue of Haredi conscription. Conversations with central committee members revealed a rift between national-religious Haredim and the mainstream religious-nationalist camp. Smotrich refrained from presenting a clear official line on the conscription issue.
