Israel's government unanimously approved the appointment of Vivian Aisen as the next ambassador to Colombia, the Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday. Aisen, previously ambassador to Macedonia, was selected as part of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar's push to renew ties with Colombia and Latin America. Colombia severed relations in May 2024 under President Gustavo Petro over Israel's Gaza operations. Full restoration is expected after Colombia's new president, Abelardo de la Espriella, takes office on August 7, including the opening of a Colombian embassy in Jerusalem. Aisen expressed eagerness to work for the prosperity of both nations. The appointment also includes Nissan Amdur as nonresident ambassador to North Macedonia.
