MK Gilad Kariv (The Democrats party) welcomes the renewed political union of Hadash, Ta'al, and Balad, which he calls "very good that lessons were learned." In an interview with 103FM, Kariv recalls the quarter of a million votes that were wasted in the previous elections as a result of the split, and calls for increasing voter turnout, especially in Arab society. He addresses Arab voters who did not vote for Arab parties but also did not feel that the Zionist parties were reaching out to them, noting that the Joint List, Ra'am, and the Democrats have something to offer. Later in the interview, Kariv addresses the issue of fortifying educational institutions in the north, and criticizes the government for the fact that the commitment to fortification has not yet been translated into action on the ground, three years after the start of the war. He notes that the State Audit Committee will hold a tour in the north in September and will demand a clear commitment from the Ministers of Education and Defense.
