Vacation Ends in Arrest: Four Israelis Caught on Catamaran in Greece with Drugs

Four Israelis were arrested on the Greek island of Lefkada after private catamaran was found with concealed drugs. The search was conducted by the Greek Coast Guard following intelligence. The detainees were released under restrictive conditions after a ten-hour hearing.

Four Israeli citizens were arrested last week on the Greek island of Lefkada, along with four foreign nationals, after a search by the Greek Coast Guard on a private sailing catamaran revealed concealed drugs. The raid took place on Thursday morning at the port of Frygia in Lefkada, based on intelligence and in the presence of a judicial authority. The catamaran, flying a British flag, contained 55.6 grams of cannabis, 10 grams of MDMA, ecstasy tablets, 8.1 grams of cocaine, 12 unidentified blue pills, as well as drug residue, grinders, and banknotes with cocaine traces. Additionally, €7,000, ₪3,240, $563, eight mobile phones, two tablets, and a laptop were seized. The catamaran itself was confiscated. Among the detainees are four Israelis, two of whom are owners of an Israeli coffee shop chain, along with citizens from Turkey, Italy, Spain, and Latvia. Yesterday (Monday), after a nearly ten-hour hearing, all eight were released under restrictive conditions, including a €5,000 bail deposit each. The investigation continues.
