Using family members and laughing at the law: the new criminal trend in the underworld

A mother and her son from Kiryat Gat were arrested with a commercial quantity of crystal meth intended for distribution, joining a series of families recently exposed in criminal activity across the country. Among the cases: the Bohbot couple from Haifa, caught with their children during thefts in Eilat, and a family that operated a drug trafficking network in the city.

A mother and her son from Kiryat Gat were arrested on suspicion of possessing a commercial quantity of crystal meth intended for distribution. During a search of their home, police located the drug and took it to the local police station for investigation. The police stated that they will continue to operate proactively and targeted against drug offenses. This is the second family caught recently in criminal activity, following the capture of Sivan and Eliran Bohbot from Haifa. The family members arrived with their three children for a vacation in Eilat, which they exploited for a spree of thefts at 15 different businesses. While the woman distracted the employees, the husband removed security tags from various items and placed them in a bag on their toddler's stroller. The total value of the thefts exceeded 100,000 shekels. A little over a year ago, a family (a 74-year-old woman, her daughter, her son, and his partner) was caught in Eilat on suspicion of running a drug trafficking and distribution network, in a case dubbed 'Ice Age'. In Kfar Saba, a grandmother who came with her daughter and grandson from Holon and stole goods worth tens of thousands of shekels from the Rananim mall is remembered, about 12 years ago.
