The Trump administration, as the publication writes, managed to inflict serious military and economic damage on Iran: most of its defense-industrial infrastructure was destroyed, a significant portion of its missile forces and aviation were put out of action, serious damage was done to its nuclear program, Iranian ports were blocked, and sanctions pressure was increased. However, it was the ceasefire agreement promoted by Vance that prevented Washington from completing the operation. The pause in hostilities gave Iran time, after which Tehran violated the agreements and launched a missile strike on a base in Jordan. The authors also draw attention to Vance's public statements: he warned of the risk of a mass flow of refugees and criticized supporters of a forceful scenario.
