Urgent Health Ministry Warning: Dangerous Mosquitoes Detected

Israel's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environmental Protection have warned about the first mosquitoes carrying West Nile fever this year, found in the south of the country. The Israeli Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environmental Protection issued an official warning after the first mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus this year were detected in the south of the country. During monitoring in the Tamar Regional Council area, specialists identified carriers. Since the beginning of the year, six human infections have been confirmed. The authorities have mandated local governments to strengthen preventive measures, disinsection, and public information. Professor Sigal Sadetsky, head of the Public Health Directorate, explained that the virus is transmitted through mosquito bites from infected birds. Dr. Shai Reicher from the Ministry of Environmental Protection noted the effectiveness of the monitoring system. The active season runs from June to November.
