Up to 150 cars to disappear from Ashdod streets

The Ashdod municipality has announced a large-scale campaign to evacuate abandoned vehicles. According to city services, there are about 150 cars in the city that meet the criteria for removal: lack of a valid inspection, serious damage, missing license plates, prolonged parking in one spot (over three days), abandonment after an accident, or becoming a source of trash and dirt. Authorities have prepared a special guarded lot for storing the towed cars. The head of the municipality's inspection department, Malki Anijar, noted that the problem is not just aesthetic: trash accumulates under abandoned cars, they attract rodents, and damaged parts are dangerous for children. The campaign aims to free up parking spaces and improve safety. Owners are urged to remove their cars voluntarily before forced towing begins.
