An unusual incident in the north: Northern District police today (Thursday) arrested an IDF soldier and a 14-year-old minor on suspicion of involvement in a shooting incident near the industrial area in Kafr Kanna. The soldier, a regular combatant on leave, was arrested with his personal M16 rifle. Police suspect he used his leave to shoot in an open area, and that he may have taught the minor to use the weapon or allowed him to fire. The arrest was made after reports of gunfire; officers located a vehicle leaving the area, inside which was an M16 rifle whose barrel was "hot to the touch." Military Police were called to investigate. Police stated they will act decisively against shooting incidents and called on the IDF to take disciplinary action against soldiers who misuse access to weapons.
