Under the auspices of giant chains: the Haredi economic initiative to fight sanctions

In response to economic sanctions against the Haredi public, a large-scale consumer initiative is being launched led by the 'Committee of Yeshivas'. The initiative will consolidate the purchasing power of 100,000 Haredi families, distribute a rechargeable card called 'Malkei Rabbanan', and negotiate with food chains for permanent discounts. The goal: to create an independent economic safety net for the sector.

In response to the economic sanctions recently imposed on the Haredi public, a large-scale consumer initiative is expected to launch at the beginning of the month of Elul. The initiative, led by the 'Committee of Yeshivas' and backed by leading rabbis, aims to consolidate the purchasing power of about 100,000 Haredi families to obtain permanent discounts and curb the cost of living in the sector. As part of the initiative, a rechargeable card called 'Malkei Rabbanan' will be distributed, into which donation funds will be channeled. The card will be used to receive discounts at major food and consumer chains and to participate in lotteries. The initiative's organizers explain that organized power will allow them to dictate terms to the chains: 'We bring 100,000 families who will go with you through fire and water, and in return we will bring low prices.' In addition, a monitoring mechanism will be established to track prices and pressure chains in case of increases. The 'Committee of Yeshivas' is in advanced talks with major food chains ahead of the launch in just a few weeks. The move marks an escalation in the Haredi leadership's attempt to create an independent economic safety net.
