Russia attacked the "Sonyachna Gallery" shopping center in the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine in two waves. At least 16 people were killed and 130 wounded, including 25 children. Nine people, including two children, are still listed as missing. 29 of the wounded are in serious condition, including five children. Among the seriously wounded is a 14-year-old girl who was transferred to Dnipro for treatment. The fire was extinguished around 11:00 PM, but search operations continued through the night. The city declared August 23 a day of mourning in memory of the victims. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack "terror" and promised that Ukraine would respond.
