On the night of August 15, Ukraine's Defense Forces conducted a large-scale long-range operation, striking several critical targets deep inside Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the use of FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles against the Progress rocket and space center in Samara, located 900 km from the border. The enterprise, part of Roscosmos and involved in assembling Soyuz launch vehicles and producing military electronics, suffered serious damage affecting key final assembly areas. Also targeted were the Savasleyka military airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region (700 km from the border), a base for MiG-31K fighters used for Kinzhal launches, and an oil facility near the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region (over 800 km from the border). Zelensky stressed that hitting Russia's production chains and logistics reduces the aggressor's military and technological potential. Experts note that the strike on Progress dealt a significant blow to the space program and military electronics production, depriving troops of equipment for navigation, targeting, and communications.
