Ukraine Poses New Problems for Putin and Russia's Richest Woman

Ukraine strikes Russian oil refineries and Wildberries warehouses, causing a historic drop in fuel processing and damages of 480 billion rubles. Drone production has grown to 10 million per year, changing the course of the war.

Ukraine has moved the fighting deep into Russia, striking oil refineries and logistics infrastructure. As a result of systematic attacks, Russian oil refining volumes in July fell to a two-decade low, forcing authorities to impose restrictions on gasoline sales and seek imports. One of the most effective strikes was on the Omsk refinery, located 2,700 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territories. Also targeted were distribution centers of Wildberries, owned by Russia's richest woman, Tatyana Kim. According to Data Insight, a third of warehouse space and goods worth about 480 billion rubles ($5.9 billion) were destroyed. Kyiv considers these targets legitimate, pointing to the sale of dual-use goods for the Russian army. Kim called the attacks terrorist. Additionally, the SBU reported the destruction of a Tu-95MS strategic bomber, two Su-35 fighters, and two L-39 combat trainers. Experts note that massive combined strikes overload Russian air defense. A key factor was the sharp increase in drone production: from about a thousand per year to a projected 10 million.
