Two years of waiting.. Ahmed trapped between isolation and paralysis in his face

The story of the injured child Ahmed Mounir Ahmed (16 years old) from Gaza, who has been suffering for two years from facial disfigurement and paralysis of the seventh nerve after being injured in an Israeli bombing, and his inability to travel abroad for treatment due to Israeli restrictions, leading to the deterioration of his health and psychological condition.

The story of the injured child Ahmed Mounir Ahmed (16 years old) from Gaza, who has been suffering for two years from facial disfigurement and paralysis of the seventh nerve after being injured in an Israeli bombing. Ahmed was injured while passing in the street when the Israeli army bombed a house, causing a stone to fall on his face, resulting in severe fractures to his lower jaw and damage to the left side of his face. Over time and his inability to travel for treatment, his condition developed into paralysis of the seventh nerve, making him unable to open his left eyelid or raise his eyebrow, and he now speaks with difficulty and has to insert food into his mouth with his hand. His mother, Samah Ahmed, recounts his daily suffering, noting that he has become aggressive and withdrawn after being a calm child, due to the bullying he faces from his peers because of the visible disfigurement on his face. Despite doctors approving an urgent referral for treatment abroad, Israeli restrictions prevented his travel, and he is currently receiving no treatment in Gaza due to the collapse of the healthcare system. Ahmed is one of about 20,000 injured and sick people in Gaza whose travel for treatment is restricted by the occupation.
