Following a covert investigation by Northern District police, five suspects were arrested yesterday and this morning (Tuesday) in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Farid Mazelbat, which occurred two months ago. The murder took place on Saturday, June 6, in a city in the Lower Galilee. At noon, a report was received at the 100 hotline about gunfire at a person, and as a result, the death of a local resident was determined. Since the beginning of the year, 159 members of the Arab community have been murdered. The suspects, residents of Arraba, Wadi Salame, and Marar, were brought in for questioning at the offices of the Serious Crime Unit of the Kinneret District. At its conclusion, they will be brought before the court for the police request to extend their detention. At the police's request, a gag order was issued on the suspects' identities at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court. The report of the shooting was received at 17:31 at the MDA 101 hotline in the Jordan region. MDA paramedics Arik Shua and Hana Hani Burns then said: "We saw the injured person unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with severe gunshot wounds to his body. We provided advanced medical treatment including prolonged resuscitation, but unfortunately, we had no choice but to determine his death." Despite the significant decrease recorded recently in the number of murders in Arab localities, severe violent incidents continue. During 29 days, three people were murdered in Arab society - a significantly lower figure compared to periods when one murder, and sometimes even two, were recorded almost daily. Alongside this, within a few days two incidents occurred that raise concern: a teacher was shot in his yard in Jatt in the Triangle, and in Shfaram, family members of a 20-year-old man are trying to trace his whereabouts after his car was found burned.
