Turkey: "There was no presence of ours at the airport before the Israeli strike"
Turkey's Defense Ministry denies any military presence at a base attacked by Israel in Syria, calling on the international community to act against Israel. Defense Minister Katz responds sharply.
Turkey's Defense Ministry issued sharp statements against Israeli strikes in Syria, denying any Turkish presence at the attacked base: "No Turkish military delegation was at the Syrian air force base before or during the Israeli strikes." Turkey called on the international community to act against Israel, claiming its actions endanger regional peace and stability. Defense Minister Israel Katz responded with a sharp tweet against Erdogan, stating that Israel will not allow threats to its security. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani said in an interview that Damascus made clear to Israel in advance that there was no intention to establish a Turkish base, and that the work was for rehabilitating Syrian infrastructure. He confirmed a routine visit by Turkish officers. The strike occurred two nights ago at al-Duhur airfield, about 70 km from the Turkish border, after Israel identified Turkish preparations for deploying soldiers. Prime Minister Netanyahu revealed that Israel carried out the strike, explaining that Syria was on the verge of violating a security status quo agreement.
