Tunisian authorities have returned Rached Ghannouchi, head of the Ennahda movement, to prison after he recovered from a health crisis that required his transfer to a military hospital. Defense team member, lawyer Mokhtar al-Jammai, said that Ghannouchi was able on Monday to receive one lawyer to check on his condition, after his condition improved. He explained that Ghannouchi had been in the hospital for more than 11 days, and had been spending two days in prison and one day in the hospital before his condition deteriorated. The defense team demanded immediate disclosure of his health condition and permission for his lawyers and family to visit him, considering the ban a violation of his fundamental rights. Ghannouchi has been imprisoned since April 17, 2023, on charges of incitement against state security, and has received prison sentences in various cases which he refuses to attend, claiming they are political.
