In response, Trump ordered a significant reduction in joint military exercises with South Korea, which he described as expensive and unnecessary. At the same time, Trump continued to shower compliments on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, with whom he is set to meet. Trump noted that he was not satisfied with US participation in joint exercises with South Korea, given his good relations with Kim, and that North Korea was not a threat under his presidency.
