Trump: Peace Council reaches agreement for complete disarmament of Hamas

US President Donald Trump announced tonight (Thursday) that the Peace Council has reached a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed organizations in the Gaza Strip. Senior officials in the Peace Council and the White House said that Hamas and the Palestinian factions have agreed to accept the entire framework, including Article 8 – disarmament. The agreement will be implemented in stages, with each stage conditional on the completion of the previous one, and will last between 200 and 300 days. The international stabilization force will handle heavy weapons and tunnels, while light weapons will be transferred to the local police. Israel has signed the agreement and will gradually withdraw according to a schedule to be determined later. Trump emphasized that the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to rise again, and that Gaza will be governed by a new Palestinian government. The draft implementation document of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement stipulates that the weapons will not be transferred to Israel but will be stored by the Palestinian National Committee.
