Trump on Iran and the shipping crisis: "Everything will work out, the regime is in trouble"

US President Donald Trump said that tensions with Iran and concerns over freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz "will work out well." According to him, the US controls the maritime passages, the Houthis allow free passage except for a few Saudi ships, and he is refraining from a full-scale attack on Tehran to maintain stability ahead of the November elections. Trump claimed that Iran will not have nuclear weapons and that inflation in the country has reached 300 percent.

According to him, the US fully controls the maritime passages in the region, and its forces escort an average of 25 ships per day. Trump noted that the Houthis in Yemen made contact and asked the US not to intervene, while allowing passage of all vessels except Saudi ships, and he intends to resolve the Saudi issue soon as well. When asked why he does not initiate a full military campaign to topple the regime in Tehran, the president replied that he wants to preserve stability ahead of the November elections. Trump claimed that American operations have eliminated Iran's nuclear capabilities, and that if they had a bomb, they would use it to wipe out Israel and the Middle East. He described an incident in which 11 missiles were fired at American forces, nine of which were intercepted. Trump claimed that inflation in Iran has reached 300 percent and that economic collapse will lead to the armed forces stopping firing at protesting civilians.
