More than five months after the outbreak of the confrontation, US President Donald Trump's promise to help the Iranian people free themselves from the regime's rule remains unfulfilled. According to Amnesty International, since the promise, the Iranian regime has executed at least 26 people in connection with the January protests, and many more may be in danger. While Iran faces an internal crisis, Trump is looking for a way out of the confrontation, and negotiation teams are working to formulate an agreement that would allow the resumption of shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency, more than 1,700 Iranian civilians have been killed during the war, including at least 175 people, most of them children, killed in an airstrike on a school on the first day of fighting. Trump has rarely referred to the suffering of Iran's citizens, instead emphasizing the disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. In June, he presented a framework for an agreement with Iran, which has since collapsed, and said: "Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow." He even praised the new Iranian leadership as "rational." An Iranian protester is quoted as saying that "the biggest losers from everything that happened this year are the residents of Iran," and that the struggle does not depend on Trump's help.
