Six months into the war with Iran, Trump faces political erosion: a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows 33% overall approval and only 28% on handling Iran. Republican support dropped to 61% from 71% in June. Six months into the war with Iran, President Trump is facing severe political erosion. A four-day Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that only 33% of Americans are satisfied with his overall performance, compared to 64% who are dissatisfied. Regarding Iran, only 28% approve of his handling of the crisis, down from 34% the previous month. Support within the Republican Party has also eroded: 61% support the management of the conflict, compared to 71% in June. Another poll by the AP and the NORC Center from late July found that about two-thirds of U.S. adults believed the war, which began on February 28, was not worth it. Republicans fear the November 2026 midterm elections as fuel and living costs rise. Trump has made clear he will 'never apologize' for the decision to act militarily, but has agreed to use millions of dollars from his political action committee to help candidates in tight races. Former officials estimate that the conflict will not remain in its current form until 2029.
